Kaup(Kapu) Beach, Udupi

Sometimes short unplanned sightseeing expeditions turn out to be an unique experience, I guess many of you would have experienced it some point of time or other. The same happened when I utilized two hour buffer time of my personal visit trip to Udupi and decided see the famous Kaup(Kapu) beach. The beach is one of picturesque beaches in South Canara and well known for strategically located lighthouse on a rock boulder. The beach recently shot into limelight as it was the shooting location for recent Kannada movie Pancharangi. 

Coorg Trip, Oct 2010

Sometime in the first week of Sep-2010, I got a mail from my blogging buddy Srinidhi Hande (popularly known in cyberspace as enidhi) that he would be in BLR on Oct 9-10th and was planning to avail an offer from Avis i.e. a self-driven Ford Endeavor at discounted rent. Next, we brainstormed for a place within 300 kms radius of Bangalore and ultimately decided on Coorg as our weekend destination. The major driving factor for the choice was that the rains would have receded and greenery would be at its peak under a blue sky with white patches of clouds ! In fact, the weather conditions turned exactly as per our expectations !

Places Covered: Dubbare, Chikkihole Dam, Nisarga Dhama, Golden Temple, Kakkabe, Cheluvara Falls, Talacauvery, Bhagamandala, Madkeri.
Mode of Transportation: Self driven Toyota Innova hired from Avis.
Route: Bangalore->Mysore->Kushalnagar(via Hunsur)->Kakkabe(via Napoklu)->Talacauvery->Madkeri->Mysore->Bangalore.

Sathodi, Banavasi, Jog, Ikkeri

Sathodi Falls is one of the challenging places to visit especially for Bangaloreans, firstly because of 400+ kms one-way distance and pathetic roads in last mile. Approximately a week ago, Divija initiated a thread among his friends that rainy season is over and it’s time for a trip. He included me also in the thread to discuss and seeking inputs for visiting to Sathodi. Based on my previous visit to the place, I sketched out a brief itinerary for the trip including some places nearby. As it happens usual in trip planning there were a few last minute drop-outs and drop-ins. Finally following people were on board: myself, Divija, Keshav, Kolle, Keshav Nandan, Goutham, Pawan, Pavan, Naveen, Sai and Arun.

The 50 feet Sathodi falls in one of graceful waterfalls in Karnataka.
